Our Adoption Process
We have found through trial and error that the following protocol for adoption works best for all parties - the rescue group, the potential adopter and the foster pet. Our ultimate goal is to ensure a good fit for all, and a truly forever home for the cats, dogs, puppies and kittens in our care.

- Adopter completes an online application form or submits a paper adoption application.
- Application is forwared to the pet's foster parent, who reviews it and contacts the veterinary reference given ( if appropriate ) to verify that adopter's current pets are neutered / spayed and up to date on routine vaccines; dogs should be on heartworm prevention.
- Meet and greet scheduled with adopter, usually at a partnering Petco or PetSmart.
- Home visit with pet conducted by foster parent and one other volunteer. This is informal and intended as a safety check of the pet's new environment ( i.e. secure fence, no potential sources of injury ) and to ensure current pets will accept the addition of the new pet.
- Pet is left in new home for a trial period, usually one week.
- Adoption is finalized - adoption contract signed by both parties and adoption fee is paid.
- New pet parent sends lots of adorable pics of pet loving life and enjoying new home and family!
